FIVA’s Legislation Commission met in Salzburg on 16–17 May to discuss the latest legislative priorities for historic vehicles in Europe. End-of-Life Vehicles and Roadworthiness Testing were key items on the agenda. Both files represent important regulatory outcomes for the historic vehicle movement, and the Legislation Commission views their evolution positively so far, notwithstanding certain administrative obligations for users that appear unavoidable.
The meeting also addressed national regulatory challenges affecting historic vehicles, including low-emission zones, registration and de-registration issues, and the mutual recognition of roadworthiness inspections across borders. The Legislation Commission agreed to continue collecting input from FIVA members and national associations to better identify practical concerns across Europe.
As part of this work, the Legislation Commission is planning a wider open meeting for all FIVA members to raise regulatory concerns and contribute to the Commission’s priorities. Further updates will follow as the relevant EU files progress and as FIVA continues its work to safeguard the use, preservation and restoration of historic vehicles.
