Turin, 19 June 2025 – In a single day, Turin reaffirmed its place at the heart of automotive culture by hosting two landmark events: the opening of Ultraleggera, an exhibition celebrating Marcello Gandini’s design legacy at MAUTO, and the FIVA Heritage Hall of Fame jury meeting at Villa Rey. Together, these events highlighted both the creative future and the storied past of the historic vehicle world.

The Italian National Automobile Museum MAUTO is hosting Ultraleggera, an exhibition celebrating the design legacy of Marcello Gandini, in collaboration with Qatar Auto Museum and VCUarts Qatar. Running from June 19 to August 31, 2025, the exhibition showcases Gandini’s drawings, sketches, models, and student works exploring movement in design. A four-day Summer School complemented the event, fostering education and dialogue between generations.
At the opening, eleven iconic cars designed by Gandini - including the Lamborghini Miura, Countach, and Diablo - were displayed, with an early Countach LP400 remaining on view until June 29. The exhibition also features unique items like Gandini’s training sailboat, a 1:1 Countach “flying carpet,” a table made from boat panels, and a folding bicycle prototype.
For the 2025 edition of FIVA’s Heritage Hall of Fame, nine distinguished individuals from nine different countries have been selected by an international jury, representing a remarkable spectrum of automotive luminaries across four continents – from Albania to the United States, from Chile to India. This year’s honourees include passionate enthusiasts, collectors, designers, and motorsport specialists, reflecting the global nature of the historic vehicle movement.

The nine-member jury – comprising McKeel Hagerty, Malcolm Forest, Nick Mason, Navaz Bhathena Sandhu, Eli Solomon, Shiro Nakamura, Gaby von Oppenheim, Patrick Rollet, and FIVA President Tiddo Bresters – selected a diverse and exceptional group of inductees in a meeting at FIVA’s headquarters at Villa Rey, in Turin, Italy, on the 19th of June. The jury members present – Malcolm Forest, Shiro Nakamura, Patrick Rollet and Tiddo Bresters – were also invited to the inauguration of the Ultraleggera show at MAUTO on the designs and innovations of legendary designer Marcello Gandini, curated by Simone Carena and Marzia Gandini, and supported by former FIVA VP Gautam Sen.
