The passing away of Dr. Veniero Molari

We received the very sad news that Dr. Veniero Molari suddenly passed away! This is a great loss for FIVA and for the historic vehicle movement.

With a great shock and in deep mourning we have been informed of the passing away of Dott. Veniero Molari, vice-chairman of the Technical Commission of FIVA.
He has served within FIVA since the beginning and had several positions in the Technical Commission over the years. His enormous knowledge and his firm convictions have supported the Technical Commission for such a long time that his absence will call a big gap!

He had a great part in building up FIVA and its Technical Commission to its today’s importance.

But all members of the Technical Commission and its Working Group will also miss a good friend and will remember him as such!

MEP Historic Vehicle Group in Strassbourg 6/7/2010

On 6 July, the inaugural meeting of the European Parliament Historic Vehicles Group was held in the Parliament in Strasbourg. The Group has attracted support from MEPs from across the Member
States and the meeting was chaired by Bernd Lange, a German MEP who owns a number of historic motorcycles and cars and who was instrumental in helping gain an exemption for historic vehicles
from the provisions of the EU’s End of Life Vehicles Directive back ten years ago. During the
meeting, FIVA explained to the members the regulatory issues which have caused FIVA to lobby
the EU institutions to ensure no negative impact on the preservation and use of historic vehicles and highlighted policy areas of concern for the future. The Members expressed their keen enthusiasm to help ensure that EU legislation does not unfairly impact on historic vehicles, their wish to use the Group to arrange (drives/rallies?) in Brussels or Strasbourg, and agreed that the Group should meet
at least 3 times a year in Strasbourg. The next meeting has been schedules take place on 19 October.
